Myron Cropsey
Heidi Cropsey's father is 100! I believe he is the first centenarian I have known. He wears headphones when he watches the TV news so other people can hear themselves think. When we talked about earthquakes he described the devastation from an earthquake in San Francisco. I asked if he meant the one in 1989, but he said, "No, the one in 1906."

Chess Looks Like a Bishop
The Ford Man's Buick
It was Eric's birthday. He was happy to let me practice shooting while he read his weekly car rag. I was happy because I learned so much in this session. I mean, I got a much better sense of maneuvering through all the settings. Still so much to learn and improve on, but oh what a nice feeling. Depth of field, focus, aperture, ISO . . . then there is white balance, RAW vs. jpeg, action shots . . . whoa!

Truckin' to Gregg's
Morning. Mid morning. I think I will be able to take the color photog class. It's full, but if I bring a laptop with Photoshop, there's a spot for me. Then if others drop out . . .
We picked up another load of firewood from Eric's brother Gregg near Salem. The '47 is running splendidly and likes carrying a full load.

Saturday Night
Here is a picture from Saturday, January 2. We were walking around downtown looking at buildings designed by architect A.E. Doyle since Eric just finished a book about him. This is the old Meier & Frank's, now Macy's. We had just seen "A Serious Man" at the Living Room Theater and walked over to the Lotus Card Room for a late dinner. So much to learn about my new camera: how to take pics at night for instance.
